BMW Swirl Flap Removal

Also important is removing the swirl flaps from the vehicle – small butterfly valves located within the inlet manifold on modern diesel engines. They are designed to help regulate the fuel to air ratio and improve emissions at low engine speeds. However, swirl flaps are often prone to failure, becoming weak and fracturing. Because of where they are positioned, a broken swirl flap can enter the combustion chamber causing serious damage to the vehicle. Swirl flap removal heads this off. The other benefit is that left untouched, the swirl flaps build up oil and carbon deposits which increase their size and results in lost performance and efficiency. Swirl flap removal in conjunction with a Custom ECU Remap offsets the small reduction in low end torque that can occur after removal.
